Regular surveys reveal that foreigners are also attracted by the high level of security in the country, the friendliness of Belarusians, and the opportunity to work in their areas of specialization while studying.
In the 2019/2020 academic year, Belarus had 26,280 foreign students from 102 countries, including 25,120 university students and 1,160 students from secondary and post-secondary schools. Besides Study in Belarus, more than 2,000 foreigners studied at joint university departments or received professional training as part of programs of Belarusian higher education institutions abroad.
Most foreign students are from Turkmenistan, China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Lebanon, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
Top Universities in Belarus Most of the classes are offered in Belarusian or Russian. However, some universities have some courses offered in English. Students who are not fluent in Belarusian or Russian must take a nine-month language immersion course before beginning their studies.
